Press Release: Council President and Fieldsboro Democratic Mayoral Candidate Dr. John J. Errigo III Calls for Fiscal Accountability and Transparency in Fieldsboro
Contact: John Errigo, Democratic nominee for Mayor
Email: errigoformayor@gmail.com
FIELDSBORO, NJ — October 26, 2025, Council President and Democratic Mayoral Candidate Dr. John J. Errigo III is raising serious concerns about ongoing financial mismanagement and the Borough’s repeated reliance on unnecessary borrowing, despite having sufficient surplus funds.
“An emergency Council meeting was called this past week to authorize a $59,500 bond anticipation note,” Dr. Errigo said. “I voted no because Fieldsboro already had enough surplus to cover the balance without taking on new engineering debt. And we could have used another lawful means to pay off this debt besides using a BAN to avoid default. Scare tactics about a potential ‘default’ were misleading, what’s truly missing is transparency and accountability.”
Dr. Errigo has consistently pushed for the Borough to implement the state-required encumbrance financial software, we chose Edmunds financial software, which was approved by Council in January 2025 but delayed for 6 months after Borough officials refused to pay the vendor until after May 20th. “This delay directly hindered our ability to meet state audit requirements,” Errigo explained. “The Borough has been under review by the Division of Local Government Services (DLGS) since September 2025, and implementing Edmunds is essential to bringing long-overdue fiscal safeguards.”
Errigo also highlighted the lack of transparency regarding Borough surplus funds—reportedly over $73,000 beyond the disclosed balance and the disproportionate amount of money being spent on engineering fees. “We’ve been spending an exorbitant share of our budget on engineering, sometimes more than a quarter of the entire annual budget,” he noted. “Instead of seeking grants or managing funds responsibly, we keep borrowing more money for vague engineering costs.”
Dr. Errigo further highlighted that the Borough missed opportunities for free grant funding through programs like New Jersey Future, which could have supported sewer system improvements without resorting to loans. “It’s unacceptable to ignore grant opportunities and instead take out a $1.5 million loan,” he said. “Residents deserve responsible, forward-thinking financial management—not a cycle of borrowing and mismanagement.”
He reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring taxpayer dollars are spent wisely: “Residents deserve a government that knows when its bills are due,” said Council President Dr. John J. Errigo III. “This was a preventable problem, and it is exactly why I have been calling for stronger financial controls and greater transparency. Fieldsboro cannot keep operating on last-minute fixes. We need structure, accountability, and leadership that pays attention.” We cannot afford to go back the status quo of the current mayoral leadership in our local governance.
Dr. Errigo further outlined his commitment regarding better fiscal management if elected as Mayor of Fieldsboro: “I will continue to fight for fiscal responsibility, transparency, and modern financial controls. Fieldsboro can, and must—operate with honesty, accountability, and smarter spending that truly serves residents.”

PRESS RELEASE: Dr. John Errigo, Council President of Fieldsboro, Issues Statement Condemning Online Harassment and Voter Intimidation Efforts
Errigo calls for civility, transparency, and respect as the election approaches
Contact: John Errigo, Democratic nominee for Mayor
Email: errigoformayor@gmail.com
FIELDSBORO, N.J. — October 15, 2025, Dr. John J. Errigo III, Council President of Fieldsboro and Democratic Mayoral Candidate, today addressed ongoing incidents of online harassment, misinformation, and personal attacks targeting his campaign and family, describing them as “deeply troubling examples of voter intimidation that have no place in our community.”
Over recent weeks, Errigo reports that coordinated online activity has attempted to spread false information about his campaign messaging, mayoral qualifications, and a member of his campaign advisory team. These attacks have escalated into multiple instances of harassment directed at family members, along with a broader attempt to mislead and discourage residents from participating in the upcoming local election.
“Everyone in Fieldsboro, regardless of who they support, deserves to feel safe and respected when it comes to their right to vote and engage in civic life,” Errigo said. “Attempts to intimidate, smear, or divide voters are completely unacceptable. These voter intimidation tactics will not stop me from standing up for transparency and accountability.”
Errigo added that a small group of individuals, both anonymous and identified, have been actively attempting to manufacture division within the community by posting false and inflammatory messages on social media, including in the “Fieldsboro Friends” group and on campaign-related pages. He stated that while only a few people are responsible, their coordinated actions have created unnecessary tension in the borough and distracted from real issues facing residents.
Errigo also confirmed that several campaign signs have been stolen or vandalized throughout Fieldsboro and nearby roadways. He called these acts “disheartening but not surprising.” He further described a troubling escalation in harassment that included doxxing, where individuals published his personal information online, shared his home address publicly, and one person even claimed to have access to his Social Security number as a form of intimidation. False claims were also spread about his family, including accusations that his mother committed voter fraud and did not reside at her home, despite the fact that she has lived there continuously and has not voted since 2018.
During recent discussions on the local “Fieldsboro Friends” Facebook page, residents repeatedly questioned his mother’s residency status despite her right to privacy as a private citizen. Errigo noted that two current council members serve as administrators of that page and have allowed this behavior to continue. He also pointed out that one of those council members paid for campaign signs for his opponent and is the same council member who originally founded the “Fieldsboro Friends” page. Errigo said this dual role has created a hostile atmosphere that has discouraged some residents from voting or participating in the election.
He added that these actions, combined with the false “Islamophobic” accusation and a series of repeated, unfounded questions directed only at him during a recent council meeting, show a deliberate effort by a small group aligned with his opponent to mislead voters and spread fear.
“These are not questions asked in good faith,” Errigo said. “They are part of a coordinated pattern of intimidation and misinformation intended to divide our community and influence this election.”
“These actions, from stolen signs to public doxxing and defamatory attacks, are not only personal smears; they serve to undermine our democratic process,” Errigo continued. “No resident or candidate should face harassment or falsehoods designed to discourage participation. Our community deserves honest debate on ideas, not intimidation.”
Errigo stated that his campaign will continue documenting any acts of harassment or voter intimidation to ensure accountability and fairness throughout the election.
“My campaign has always focused on facts, fairness, and results,” Errigo said. “I urge everyone to reject fear and misinformation, and to remember that leadership means rising above the noise. Fieldsboro deserves better than intimidation; it deserves integrity.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PRESS RELEASE: Official Statement of John J. Errigo III – Democratic Candidate for Mayor of Fieldsboro regarding the lack of transparency for public safety and public fund use over the NJDEP Violations issued on June 10, 2025
Contact: John Errigo, Democratic nominee for Mayor
Email: errigoformayor@gmail.com
Fieldsboro, NJ – October 13, 2025, Dr. John Errigo stated regarding the communication crisis regarding the lack of transparency of the sewer plant violations cover-up, “I have zero tolerance for cover-ups. Cover-ups are not acceptable, because if we are transparent about the problems, then we can be clear about the solutions.” Original public health advisory published on Sept 29, 2025 https://errigoformayor.com/media-advisory/
Four Months of Silence Is Enough: It’s Time to Tell Residents the Truth
For four months I have asked Borough leadership to be transparent about serious NJDEP sewer violations. Instead, I was stonewalled, told the documents were “confidential,” and residents were kept in the dark. That is unacceptable. After four months of silence, it is time for residents to know the truth about what is happening with their own sewer plant.
That is why I issued on Sept 29 a public health advisory not as a political press release, but as a responsibility to residents. People deserve to know that violations exist in our town. It is unacceptable for anyone to claim that these documents are “confidential.” They are public records that can be accessed in 20 seconds on the NJDEP website. Nothing the DEP issues is secret; calling it “confidential” is simply a stonewalling technique.
On June 10, the Mayor received the DEP violation letter the very day of the election. Yet he remained silent about it during the June 11 Council meeting, even with the letter in hand. I only learned about it on June 16, and I was shocked it had not been disclosed to Council or residents. On June 24, I formally requested that the violations be shared on the Borough website and that a public communication plan be put in place. That never happened. As Council President, after waiting four months and still receiving no answers, the truth was made public. On July 2, I showed residents how to access the violations directly on the NJDEP website, where records go back to 2000.
Even after repeated requests, I have not been included in the Borough’s NJDEP response or given access to the Borough’s NJDEP violation corrective action plan. As a Council member, I remain in the dark and if Council is in the dark, so are residents. This is a complete failure of transparency in a critical moment.
At the October Council meeting, I explained to the Mayor where nonpartisan grant funding could be obtained to fix these problems without burdening taxpayers. Instead of pursuing solutions, we’ve had silence, stonewalling, and cover-ups. To this day, residents and the full Council still don’t know whether the problems have been fixed or whether risks continue, while only the Mayor and his allies have kept that information to themselves.
That is not leadership. In a crisis, leaders must inform the public, pursue solutions, and put residents first. What we have seen instead is secrecy, stonewalling, and cover-ups.
Council should be informed of everything happening in our Borough, not left in the dark. If I am elected Mayor, that will change. As your Mayor and as a leader, I will hit problems head-on with full transparency so we can solve them as a community, not in the dark where issues fester and get worse. Under my leadership, there will be no cover-ups. Residents will always know the truth, because transparency is the only way to protect public trust and protect Fieldsboro’s future.

Fieldsboro, NJ – September 15, 2025, Councilmember Dr. John J. Errigo III, Democratic candidate for Mayor of Fieldsboro, proudly announced his endorsement of Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill for Governor of New Jersey in the 2025 election.
Dr. Errigo emphasized that New Jersey faces a critical choice in this election. “We cannot allow MAGA extremists to take control of our state, local municipalities, and counties in New Jersey. Mikie Sherrill has proven time and again that she puts New Jersey residents first,” said Errigo.
Congresswoman Sherrill has consistently stood with the LGBTQ+ community and fought for equality, fairness, and safety for all New Jerseyans. Among her accomplishments:
“As someone who earned my PhD studying business management, finance, ethics, ethical leadership, equality, inclusive language, and team dynamics, I know what true leadership looks like,” added Dr. Errigo. “Mikie Sherrill doesn’t just talk about fairness, she delivers. Fieldsboro, NJ – Council President and mayoral candidate Dr. John J. Errigo III is inviting residents to share their thoughts on the possibility of creating an indoor recreation or community center in Fieldsboro. The proposed facility would be funded through grants and private donors, ensuring it would be a tax-free gift to the community.

Fieldsboro, NJ – Council President John Errigo Calls for Unity and Solutions in Final Months of Mayoral Campaign
Fieldsboro, NJ – Council President and mayoral candidate Dr. John J. Errigo III is calling for Fieldsboro to “turn the page” and focus on solutions as the community heads into the final months before the November election.
Reflecting on the campaign so far, Errigo acknowledged the challenges of recent weeks:
“These past six weeks have been some of the hardest of this campaign. The infighting and political games pushed by the old guard mindset have been discouraging, and at times, it’s left me disappointed. There are a few voices on Council who still give me hope, but I’ve also seen others slip further into division, and that has been painful to witness.”
Errigo spoke about a recent moment that reminded him of the kind of future he envisions for Fieldsboro.
“Recently, at a wedding, I looked around the room and saw joy on everyone’s faces. It reminded me of the spirit I want to see more of in Fieldsboro, neighbors proud of their community, connected with one another, and looking toward the future with hope. Too often lately, that joy has been harder to find here in our town.”
He emphasized that his decision to live in Fieldsboro is rooted in deep belief in the community.
“My husband and I didn’t buy our home in Fieldsboro to walk away when things get tough. We chose to invest our lives here because we believe in the goodness of Fieldsboro, and I still believe in it deeply. Over the past year, I’ve worked hard to expose the problems that needed to be brought into the light, because residents deserve the truth. But as we move into the final months before November, I want to turn the page toward something bigger: solutions.”
Errigo outlined his vision for a better Fieldsboro:
“This campaign hasn’t been easy, but I won’t back down,” Errigo said. “Fieldsboro deserves joy again, and together, we can bring it back. Let’s move forward together.”

Fieldsboro, NJ — Council President Dr. John Errigo Requests State Review of Fieldsboro’s Financial Practices
Fieldsboro Council President Dr. John J. Errigo III has formally requested that the New Jersey Division of Local Government Services review whether the Borough’s financial practices meet state requirements.
Recent communications revealed that an outside consultant billed through the Borough’s audit firm has been preparing key financial documents, while the CFO’s role has largely been limited to signing them. That same firm is then responsible for auditing its own work.
“This arrangement raises serious concerns about independence and compliance under New Jersey law,” Dr. Errigo said. “Residents deserve confidence that their tax dollars are being managed with proper oversight. I am asking the State to review this practice and provide corrective guidance if necessary.”
Dr. Errigo emphasized that transparency and accountability remain his top priorities: “Our residents deserve accountability, compliance, and transparency. That is why I will continue to take action, not just talk about it.”
I’ll keep pushing until Fieldsboro is not just barely functioning, but thriving!

PRESS RELEASE: Errigo Raises Red Flags About Rubber-Stamp Practices in Borough Hall

“Errigo Raises Red Flags About Rubber-Stamp Practices in Borough Hall“
Fieldsboro, NJ – John Errigo, Fieldsboro Council President, and Democratic nominee for Mayor, is raising red flags about what he calls a “culture of rubber-stamp politics” in Borough Hall and underscored the urgent need for stronger oversight and accountability.
“In my 20 year career as an Operations Manager with a Ph.D. in Business, I’ve built a proven record of designing systems that work, strengthening financial controls, and ensuring organizations operate efficiently and transparently,” said Errigo. “I bring years of hands-on leadership experience overseeing operations, budgets, and teams, skills that translate directly to modernizing Borough Hall. That’s not theory. It’s results.”
Errigo emphasized the importance of independent oversight, noting that while professionals provide valuable advice, elected officials have a responsibility to question, scrutinize, and ensure every decision serves the public interest.
“Oversight isn’t optional, it’s required,” Errigo continued. “Real leadership means asking tough questions, holding everyone accountable, and ensuring taxpayer dollars are protected. But the old guard doesn’t operate that way. For years, Borough Hall hasn’t had real checks and balances, just rubber-stamping whatever they’re told. That’s not oversight. That’s complacency.”
Errigo warned that efforts to bring modern systems and safeguards have repeatedly been blocked by a predictable pattern of resistance, delay, and, more recently, outright condescension.
“This isn’t leadership, it’s obstruction. And it’s a distraction from the real issue: a total lack of accountability,” he said.
Errigo’s campaign platform focuses on ending rubber-stamp politics and delivering the transparency and efficiency Fieldsboro residents deserve.
“November 4 isn’t about titles or politics, it’s about results,” Errigo concluded. “Fieldsboro needs leaders who will do the work—not just protect the status quo.”

This victory was not handed to us, it was earned through months of conversations, door knocks, community engagement, and listening to your concerns. Every vote cast was a voice for change, and I will carry that responsibility with humility and strength.

“Fieldsboro Deserves Transparency — Not Confusion”
Fieldsboro, NJ — June 3, 2025 — “For months, I’ve emphasized the importance of transparency and the need to move beyond politics as usual in Fieldsboro. Recently, residents received a borough-wide mailing titled a ‘Mayor’s Update,’ highlighting accomplishments of the current administration. It was distributed under the official borough seal, bundled with required public notices, and mailed at public expense—just ten days before the June 10 primary election.
While keeping residents informed is important, the timing and presentation of this mailing raise reasonable concerns about the appropriate use of taxpayer resources in the context of an election.
This moment reflects exactly why I’m running: to ensure that communication from local government is clear, fair, and never gives even the appearance of impropriety. Fieldsboro deserves leadership that puts residents first—not politics.

Candidate for Mayor of Fieldsboro Censored in Local Facebook Group
FIELDSBORO, NJ — John Errigo, current Council President of Fieldsboro Borough and Democratic candidate for Mayor, has spoken out after supporters were blocked from posting in the widely followed “Fieldsboro Friends” Facebook group. Errigo alleges the censorship was politically motivated.
“This is not just about me — it’s about every resident’s right to be informed and engaged in the democratic process,” said Errigo. “Silencing a campaign in the middle of a local election undermines transparency, accountability, and the values this town was built on.”
Errigo’s supporters attempted to share updates about his campaign, community concerns, and plans for a more inclusive and responsive local government when this one supporters access to the group was suddenly revoked and all of their posts deleted. The “Fieldsboro Friends” page serves as a popular forum for local events, discussions, and updates — especially during the election season.
“I’m running on a platform of openness and respect for all residents,” Errigo added. “If political opponents feel threatened by an honest conversation, that only proves why change is needed.”
Errigo’s campaign — running under the slogan “Residents First” — has emphasized better communication, fiscal transparency, and ensuring that community voices are not only heard but valued.
The primary election for Mayor will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025.

Dr. John Errigo Attends Key Political Event, Discusses Local Funding Priorities with Gubernatorial Candidate Steve Fulop
Fieldsboro, NJ — May 4, 2025 — Dr. John Errigo, Democratic candidate for Mayor of Fieldsboro, attended his first major political event of the 2025 campaign season this weekend, joining leaders and candidates from across New Jersey. Errigo, who has been a twice-elected Council Member and current Council President in Fieldsboro, used the opportunity to introduce his mayoral campaign to state and local officials while advocating for increased state support for small municipalities.
During the event, Errigo met several prominent leaders including Eric Holliday, Mayor of Bordentown Township, and took the opportunity to engage with Steve Fulop, Mayor of Jersey City and Democratic candidate for Governor of New Jersey, along with Fulop’s running mate, Sheena Collum. Errigo also met with both Democratic Assembly candidates for 2 local districts, Eric Holliday for (District 7) and Eddie Freeman for (District 8).
“I had a great discussion with Governor candidate Steve Fulop about the critical need for state funding to better support small towns like Fieldsboro,” said Errigo. “Most of our local tax dollars don’t stay within the municipality, and our residents deserve better reinvestment. Steve listened thoughtfully and offered strong ideas for bridging this funding gap, which reinforced my confidence in his candidacy.”
Errigo praised the leadership and innovative ideas he heard from Fulop, Collum, and the district’s Assembly candidates. “We need new energy and fresh solutions at every level of government. I’m excited to support leaders like Steve Fulop, Eric Holliday, and Eddie Freeman as they work toward positive change for New Jersey residents.”
Errigo also expressed gratitude to Mayor Eric Holliday for the invitation and the chance to build new connections with those working to improve communities throughout Burlington County and beyond.
As Mayor of Fieldsboro, I’ll fight to ensure our town gets its fair share of resources and that residents’ voices are heard, not just in local government but all the way to Trenton,” Errigo added.
