Dr. John Errigo, Council President of Fieldsboro, Issues Statement Condemning Online Harassment and Voter Intimidation Efforts
Errigo calls for civility, transparency, and respect as the election approaches
FIELDSBORO, N.J. — October 15, 2025, Dr. John J. Errigo III, Council President of Fieldsboro and Democratic Mayoral Candidate, today addressed ongoing incidents of online harassment, misinformation, and personal attacks targeting his campaign and family, describing them as “deeply troubling examples of voter intimidation that have no place in our community.”
Over recent weeks, Errigo reports that coordinated online activity has attempted to spread false information about his campaign messaging, mayoral qualifications, and a member of his campaign advisory team. These attacks have escalated into multiple instances of harassment directed at family members, along with a broader attempt to mislead and discourage residents from participating in the upcoming local election.
“Everyone in Fieldsboro, regardless of who they support, deserves to feel safe and respected when it comes to their right to vote and engage in civic life,” Errigo said. “Attempts to intimidate, smear, or divide voters are completely unacceptable. These voter intimidation tactics will not stop me from standing up for transparency and accountability.”
Errigo added that a small group of individuals, both anonymous and identified, have been actively attempting to manufacture division within the community by posting false and inflammatory messages on social media, including in the “Fieldsboro Friends” group and on campaign-related pages. He stated that while only a few people are responsible, their coordinated actions have created unnecessary tension in the borough and distracted from real issues facing residents.
Errigo also confirmed that several campaign signs have been stolen or vandalized throughout Fieldsboro and nearby roadways. He called these acts “disheartening but not surprising.” He further described a troubling escalation in harassment that included doxxing, where individuals published his personal information online, shared his home address publicly, and one person even claimed to have access to his Social Security number as a form of intimidation. False claims were also spread about his family, including accusations that his mother committed voter fraud and did not reside at her home, despite the fact that she has lived there continuously and has not voted since 2018.
During recent discussions on the local “Fieldsboro Friends” Facebook page, residents repeatedly questioned his mother’s residency status despite her right to privacy as a private citizen. Errigo noted that two current council members serve as administrators of that page and have allowed this behavior to continue. He also pointed out that one of those council members paid for campaign signs for his opponent and is the same council member who originally founded the “Fieldsboro Friends” page. Errigo said this dual role has created a hostile atmosphere that has discouraged some residents from voting or participating in the election.
He added that these actions, combined with the false “Islamophobic” accusation and a series of repeated, unfounded questions directed only at him during a recent council meeting, show a deliberate effort by a small group aligned with his opponent to mislead voters and spread fear.
“These are not questions asked in good faith,” Errigo said. “They are part of a coordinated pattern of intimidation and misinformation intended to divide our community and influence this election.”
“These actions, from stolen signs to public doxxing and defamatory attacks, are not only personal smears; they serve to undermine our democratic process,” Errigo continued. “No resident or candidate should face harassment or falsehoods designed to discourage participation. Our community deserves honest debate on ideas, not intimidation.”
Errigo stated that his campaign will continue documenting any acts of harassment or voter intimidation to ensure accountability and fairness throughout the election.
“My campaign has always focused on facts, fairness, and results,” Errigo said. “I urge everyone to reject fear and misinformation, and to remember that leadership means rising above the noise. Fieldsboro deserves better than intimidation; it deserves integrity.”
